BATT Issues Statement on Executive Order on Critical Minerals

The BATT Coalition,  which includes more than a dozen companies dedicated to increasing domestic production of raw materials and components for electric batteries, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s new executive order on “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production”: 

“For too long the United States has been dangerously dependent on China and other potential adversaries for critical minerals that are vital components for military hardware, transportation systems, and the energy sector. President Trump and his administration are rightly taking additional proactive steps to address this vulnerability. Building a robust domestic industrial base for these materials is both a national security and economic imperative. If implemented effectively, the proposed measures and new policy focus can go a long way toward ensuring that we lead the world in extracting and processing the natural resources that we need to help build a secure future. BATT looks forward to working with the administration and bipartisan leaders in Congress to make this a reality.”
